CWI code navigation drill: find the clause on a clock

Parts B and C are open book, and word search is off in the on-screen D1.1 PDF. Each drill names a topic. Find the clause, table or annex in your own copy, pick its number, and press check. The page times every drill and adds up a total.

Open your own Book of Specifications, then press start. The clock runs until you press check.

How the drills work

  • Pick a book. Each book has its own set of drills, always in the same order.
  • Press start to show a drill and begin its clock. Press check to stop it.
  • Each drill has a "Where to look:" line that points to the part of the book to open, not to the answer.
  • At the end you see the seconds for each drill, the average and the total.

Your time depends on how you tab and mark up your book, so compare it only with your own earlier runs. The D1.1 drills follow the clause layout of the 2020 edition; older editions number the clauses differently. Check each answer against your 2025 copy if you have one. The Part B drills use the 2017 Book of Specifications, so check your copy if AWS supplies a newer one.

These are original practice drills, not exam questions. They do not reproduce code text.

Once you can reach Clause 6 fast, practice reading qualification records on the WPS and PQR review drill.

Original drills that train you to find the right clause, table and annex fast in your own copy of the book. A study aid; check every answer against your own copy.
