CWI prep for fabricators and inspection firms

See where each person stands against American Welding Society's published outline before you pay for training or book an exam seat.

What your team can use today

  • A free check per exam, scored by domain
  • A study plan built around each person's exam date
  • A one-page reimbursement request your staff can send to a manager

Questions are original, written to the published content outline, and every answer key is re-checked by a separate blind solve.

1. BaselineEach person takes the free check for the exam they are sitting next.
2. FocusTheir results name the weakest domain, so study time goes where it is needed.
3. ReimburseIf you fund prep, staff can generate a request letter with the cost and reasons.

This page is for supervisors and training managers who buy exam preparation for a crew. Fillet Gauge prepares one person at a time for the AWS Certified Welding Inspector exam. A crew order is the same course bought for several people, quoted and invoiced by hand.

Plan the three parts first

The CWI exam has three parts: Part A (Fundamentals), Part B (Practical) and Part C (Code Application). Each part is scored on its own, and only a failed part is retaken. Before you buy seats, decide which part each person will sit first and which code Part C will use. For a D1.1 Part C, the edition guide explains which edition the exam uses and why each person needs their own licensed copy of the code. Fillet Gauge does not provide the code book.

Our CWI exam cost guide shows the AWS fees and the retest rules guide shows what a retake involves. Budget for those separately from preparation.

What each seat gets

A seat is one person's access to one course. Each course includes:

  • A question bank for that part, with each answer key checked by an independent second solve
  • Timed practice exams
  • A lesson for each domain in the published AWS outline
  • A study plan built from the person's exam date

Each person can try the free 10-question check first. It shows a score by domain without signing up, so a supervisor can see where study time is needed before paying for seats.

How quotes and invoices work

The crew prices below are per seat. The price depends on crew size: one rate for 3 to 9 seats and a lower rate for 10 or more. The table shows the exact figures for each course.

  1. Send the form. Give us your name, work email, company, the part and the number of seats.
  2. Get a quote by email. A person at Fillet Gauge replies with a quote.
  3. Pay by invoice. We invoice by hand. There is no checkout for crew orders.

Each person gets their own course and study plan, and we invoice your company directly. Your crew joins through one link you share. You get a private dashboard showing each person's last activity, latest score and weakest topic.

Common questions

How do I see where my crew needs study time?

Your private crew dashboard shows each person's last activity, lessons done, latest practice, timed and check scores, and weakest topic. Each person's results also show a score by domain, which they can share with you. The free 10-question check is a good place to start.

Can I pay for one person without a quote?

Yes. A single course is a one-time payment on the course page. If your employer is paying, tick "My employer is paying" at checkout and we email a receipt you can expense. The terms cover refunds for individual purchases.

Does a course replace the exam or the experience requirement?

No. Fillet Gauge is preparation only. AWS sets the requirements and issues the credential. Check them before you promise anyone a certification date.
